The vegetarian, looks to alternatives to meat and fish for health and satisfaction. So, where do you get your protein from if you don\u2019t eat meat or fish? Pulses are a good source of protein, pulses include beans, chickpeas and lentils. A daily serving of pulses is good for lowering cholesterol and they would be counted as your one a day serving. However, soya beans are a complete protein and is excellent for your health, along with tofu and soya milk. You will find protein in all dairy products, eggs, quinoa, nuts and seeds, cereals and wholegrains. The rest of the vegetarian diet consists of leafy, green vegetables, root vegetables, salad vegetables and fruit especially berries. What more could you want eh? &nbsp;The vegetarian diet encourages you to eat fresh, with low calorie additives such as mayonnaise, and other dressings, keeping your salt intake sparce, while using fresh, if possible, herbs and spices.&nbsp; Some vegetarians tend to go for soya protein that can resemble meat in style and taste, such as sausages, steaks and burgers, etc. All good, and that tends to take less time to cook and prepare than meat. So, if you are finding meat and fish products getting too expensive, why not try going without meat, even if it\u2019s only for one or two days a week, you may enjoy eating lighter food, and it may help you to lose some weight, so long as you don\u2019t top your veggie days up with high calorie food stuff.
