Being self-disciplined enhances your character and your feeling of self-worth. Here are five ways you can practice self-discipline. Know yourself: A person who is self-disciplined knows their own strengths and weaknesses. We are biologically programmed to be self-disciplined, which enables us to survive, to re-produce, and to protect, 99% of people follow through with these vital functions, it’s the functions in between these three where we often fail… Remove the temptation: Do you have a problem controlling your urge to eat too much, drink too much, smoke too much, or gamble? If so, and you want to control yourself and be more disciplined? Try removing the temptations… If the temptation isn’t there then it is easier for you to resist. Set Goals: Strengthen your self-discipline by setting achievable goals, I say ‘achievable’ goals, setting yourself impractical standards usually end in failure. Be kind to yourself and take your time and when you are more confident and comfortable with your self-confidence and willpower then you can set yourself higher standards. Yes, you can: Take the phrase ‘I can’t do it’ out of your vocabulary, because the aim of being self-disciplined is to do precisely that, which is for you to stop saying what you can’t do and change it to what you can do. Rewards: I repeat, that tackling your weaknesses and becoming self-disciplined isn’t easy, it needs strength and willpower, and having faith in yourself. Giving up things you have enjoyed for years is difficult…. But to help relieve this feeling of gloom and depression, of missing your favourite drink or smoke, treat yourself, reward yourself with something you enjoy, something that isn’t habit-forming, or making you sick… You truly deserve to treat yourself now and again as you will have, no doubt, saved yourself some cash by not purchasing your temptations… Remember: Strengthening your self-discipline is difficult, it takes willpower, and persistence, it is hard work, but you will need a stronger state of self-discipline to give you the ability to follow through with your intentions. It takes, clarity, by knowing what you want to do and achieve takes consistency and commitment. Not easy, but think of how your confidence and self-worth will grow when you look back at your achievements…

Self-Discipline: Is an amazing virtue, it is the ability to control yourself and enables you to overcome almost any weaknesses you may have.
