Awareness: Depression:

Depression isn’t just a feeling of misery and sadness now and again, clinical depression is persistent and can last for weeks, even, months. It can cause a great deal of sadness and a loss of interest in everything including life! Depressive people suffer from being unable to function in what non-depressives would consider normal day to day actions. And those who are suffering from severe depression could begin to wonder if life is worth living at all…  If you have been very down and cannot pull yourself out of this emotional situation, please see your GP or health advisor as, with prescribed medication you may be able to turn your life around, for there is always hope.  When experiencing depression, once you are under medical and psychological care there are other everyday things you can do which may help. Depression can create many different problems, including emptiness, angry outbursts, tiredness, and many other symptoms including sleep problems. If you would like to try helping yourself whilst being under your doctor, you can try awareness as part of your recovery. When your mood lifts, even if it’s only a little amount, that is the time you can try to practice relaxation so that any other depressive problems like headaches, and feelings of worthlessness can be soothed and calmed. At times when you are feeling a little better, try to become aware of how precious and unique you are. If you lie down relaxed, on a warm blanket, close your eyes and concentrate on you breathing. Breath slowly and purposefully, and when you are quiet and in the moment if you feel ready you can perform the gentlest of movements. Stretching, then relaxing down… then Just be still and aware.
