Life-Style: Tolerance.

How tolerant are you? Are you relatively easy-going or do you find it difficult to accept other people the way they are?  Being tolerant means that you are open-minded and non-judgmental. Here in the UK, we have always been regarded as one of the most tolerant countries in the world, as it has always embraced people of different cultures, races and religions. Consequently, we are a multi-cultural country and always have been. Of course, it’s not always easy for us as individuals to accept differences in other people’s beliefs and appearances, but once we have learned to accept something or someone we don’t know, usually, life is made that much richer from the experience and acceptance. Being tolerant, acquires us to be quiet, listen and learn, if you find it difficult to be tolerant with people who are different to you, have different ideas to you, have alternative ways of doing things, by listening and learning you may acquire skills that you never knew you had before, and if you are easy with people who are different to you, it is usually easier for others to be tolerant of you.  If you struggle to be easy-going with people who are different to you, but would like to change, I would suggest that you think deeply about your intolerance by going back to basics. If it’s about people in general, just think, are they like you? Two arms, two legs, one head, mouth, two eyes, etc, etc, so, yes, they are the same as you… Faith? Were you born into a Christian family? Could you help that? NO! Could some other person help being born a Jew, Catholic, Islamic or Hinu, NO! About skin colour? Could you help being born with your skin colour? NO of course you couldn’t, well, neither could the other person… So, as you can see, once you go back to basics, none of us can help who or what we are, so to live a happy and content life, try not to be judgmental and be tolerant with other people who are somewhat different to you.
