Oh dear, so embarrassed!

Emotions: Ashamed:

Oh, my goodness what it feels like to be ashamed!  Such a bad and emotional feeling to be embarrassed or humiliated, especially in public.  Have you ever done something or said something amongst your friends or family and an awkward silence follows?  How awful you feel, and it’s usually something you cannot take back or get out of.  Shame is a very painful emotion, and we very often want to hide away from it all, we wish we could turn back the clock so that we, as a whole person, can become as before.   Being ashamed or embarrassed encompasses our whole being and the feeling is often accompanied with averted eyes, our faces tend to go red, and we lower our head in shame. In fact, we just want to disappear from view. So how can we cope with the feeling of shame. Well of course if it is possible the most obvious turn-around is to apologise. If we have said or done something to upset someone, by apologising we are owning up swiftly to our mistake, and if the wrongdoing was unintentional then the likelihood of being forgiven should do the trick, meaning we can put our embarrassment and shame behind us. Sometimes we do something that is shameful but out of our control, again an immediate apology should be all you need, for why feel ashamed of something that you cannot help and didn’t say or do intentionally?
