‘Excuse me, but who are you?’ I don’t know who you are, do you? Are you a people pleaser, and is the person reading this article the real you? Do you live an authentic life, so that others know who you truly are? As human beings we need to have family and friends around us, but in order to keep up a good relationship with, who we think are the most important people in our lives, we often feel the need to hide our authentic self in order to keep in their good books and so that they do not delete us from their Facebook page. However, true authentic people are what they are, whether you like them or not. If you don’t particularly like someone who is honest, able to stand up when needed, will speak their mind when challenged, then you must prefer those who wear a false mask. Is that like you? If you think you have been desperately trying to be best friends with everyone, afraid to speak up, to take responsibility, say what is really on your mind as opposed to saying what you think others want to hear? DONT, be yourself, let others see who you really are, you may lose one or two of your acquaintances, but at least your real trusted friends and family will stand by you. Never be afraid to say NO, or YES, if you think that is the right thing to do, and if you always do what is right for you, those who trust you will look to you for guidance. By being the person, you really are and true to yourself, you will find that your relationships will become deeper and more rewarding as they will be built on trust and honesty, you will become more self-confident, as you will be able to see yourself in a truer light, and your straight-forward thoughts and feelings will enhance your mental health. So, don’t be afraid to be who you truly are my friend, live authentically with yourself and with those you love.
