So, how well do you listen to your body when it communicates with you? Are you truly on the ball and can you easily pick up signs and signals that your body is giving you, especially when you are thirsty, hungry and tired etc? If there is a simple problem your body will quickly inform you. Sometimes you don’t even need to listen to your body because it makes you act on impulse. Do you just suddenly get up and go to the fridge for no apparent reason and grab that bottle of water, or put the coffee pot on without thinking about it, what about glancing at the clock or your watch only to find that it’s your usual time to eat lunch? Your body has been talking to you since the day you were born… Hear a baby cry? Do you check the time it had its last feed, of course you do, and usually the time is right. So, for everyday things you don’t really have to listen and check out what your body is saying because it just nudges you into the appropriate action. Sleep is a great one, as you can be sitting watching your favourite film or programme only to come too somewhat later to find that your tired body had fallen asleep. However, what about the signs and warnings you get when your body is trying to tell you that things are not normal or usual, are you listening then? That unusual pain or swelling you can feel, that blotchy red skin, those stomach cramps, feelings you don’t normally experience on a daily basis. Well, it could be something quite simple, something that your body can heal or put right itself through your amazing immune system, perhaps rest, or exercise will help heal that pain or swelling. But if your immune system is struggling, and you can’t clear the problem through rest or relaxation you need to go and check out your problem with a profession health advisor. Don’t neglect or ignore what your body is saying to you it is only trying to keep you healthy by telling you to get the problem sorted out. Your body is always trying to help you, so look, listen and take heed.
