I am a great ‘yes’ person myself. I have always been ready to support and give advice if requested and I always do whatever I can to help out, I go out with family and friends if they ask me, holidays, shopping, parties, etc. I hardly ever say ‘no’ if I can avoid it. However, and it’s a very important ‘however’ there are times when you have to stand up, stand your ground and say NO. Learning to say NO and meaning it and sticking to your decision could actually save your life… How often do you read or hear about women being abused, even murdered because they didn’t say no and stick to it early on in a friendship or relationship. If you are wise, when you meet someone new, be it male or female, young or old, just by watching their actions and listening to their words you can usually pick-up on their character quite quickly, their true character doesn’t become apparent by what they give to you, if they shower you with gifts, etc. as, to a wise person, that could be seen as being ‘manipulative’ and which in time can become coercive, putting you in imminent fear and danger. As nice as a person my appear, you do have to take things slow, weigh up the pros and cons and if you feel the slightest bit uncomfortable or worried, it is best for you to say NO early on as you may find that you get into a position where it will be too late to say no… So, take heed and be wise.
