Zen Garden: About Gardens.

If you are fortunate enough to have a garden, the chances are, you love it. Most people like to imagine themselves sitting peacefully in their garden, feet up, on a lovely sunny, warm, afternoon, with a coffee or glass of wine, just letting the world go by, but of course, it’s not just about sitting and enjoying a garden, its Work, Work, and more Work!    Like me, I should imagine that the majority of you spend more time working in the garden than you ever do just sitting and enjoying it, but, working in the garden is not only excellent exercise for your body, it is also good for our mental health too, for no matter what is going on in your life, just for a while, you can enjoy having your mindful worries distracted by the thoughts that help you keep your garden looking good and organized. That is what Zen gardens are all about. Zen gardens were first built in Japan, but they were inspired by Zen Buddhism, which originated in China, and before that, India. The gardens were usually small and built around Buddhist temples, to inspire the faithful to seek inner peace and tranquility. So, if your garden is knee-high in bushes, trees, flowers, stone features, ponds, grass, stones, lights, chairs and tables, you may at times look around your garden seeking peace and never being quite able to find it… So, if you want a calm garden, my aim is to help you sort your garden out by making it simpler and much more relaxing.
