The human body is designed and structured to care for itself. And that is what it does 24/7… From the moment we take our first breath our body is fighting to keep us alive… and before ever medicines were invented human beings had to rely on their body to keep them fit and healthy and to help heal any wounds they encountered or any diseases, they picked up… And you may not have thought about it, but we still, even today, entrust our body to keep us healthy and feeling good. If you accidently cut, burn or scratch your finger, what do you do? Usually, you put your finger in your mouth while you are searching your medicine cabinet for some soothing cream and a plaster… and it’s not one bit unusual to go immediately to our own saliva for almost any scrape, sting or dig if there is no medication to hand… Also, if you fall, hurt your knee, ancle, elbow, wrist, walk into a door… What is the first thing you do? Without thinking, your hand will go straight to the point of impact because hands and fingers are extremely sensitive and are the source of great comfort. Headache, earache, toothache, backache, all cry out for the healing and soothing touch of your own hand, or someone else’s hand…
Our voices can be used for healing too, when someone is hurt, crying or angry, with the gentle touch of a hand and a calm, comforting voice, it can very quickly talk the hurt away, ease the tears, and can calm the anger down.
So, to help our body keep fit and healthy saliva has antibacterial properties, hands have healing qualities and the calm, quiet voice creates peace within the one who is hurting.
